We are focused on having a productive and hardy doe herd.
"High Performing" does bred on the farm:
A high performing doe in this context is one which is a reliable breeder who twins or more and mothers well. She milks well but "drys-off" well after weaning and her udder tightens back up very well. She remains sound. Her kids grow well to become strong bucks if kept to breed and their daughters breed well themselves. The following does have done this and produced buck kids who have excelled in performance tests. In reconstructing my website 1/2017, I have realized that I have not kept pictures of many of the important does I have used in my breeding program. I will try to get and process more. For now, I have some pictures that we took in the winter of 2015. Hope you enjoy them. note: all does pictured that have no horns were disbudded and all my does have naturally horned genetics. I have no Naturally polled Kikos.
This doe is quite the exceptional doe. She has produced a Maryland test finalist in 2013 and a West Virginia Test winner in 2015. That is absolutely amazing as any breeder with experience with tests will confirm. She has also produced 11 kids in 4 kiddings. An easy fleshing doe and has a great udder. Pictured here starting to spring before having triplets in 2016.
PJM 41 is a doe who produced PJM Copyright Harvest Starz. That buck finished the Maryland test with good FAMACHA scores and was the highest gaining buck in the growth phase of the test in 2014. A reliable producer who is sound and has a good udder.
PJM 150 is another exceptional doe in my opinion. She has produced some excellent kids. Her 2015, and 2016 buck kids which went to the Maryland Test were both awarded joint lowest/darkest/best FAMACHA scores for the entire test having an average FAMACHA of 1. Both finished in the top Ten and I have bred "Hard as Nails" to some very nice does and have retained her 2016 test buck called "Steel Nails" for breeding.
PJM 11 produced a test kid in 2016 who completed the Maryland test finishing off the finalist group but was 11th overall out of over 90 starting kids and held a very dark eye through the test and was never treated for any ailments or dewormed.
PJM 57 has produced the heaviest of muscled kids. In 2014, 2015 and 2016 her sons (sired by different sires) tested in three feedlot tests proved to be the best REA bucks in their tests. She is the dam of PJM Cross Cut WV2015. In 2016, I retained her son sired by Copyright that I called PJM Copyright Cross Fire WV16. (Unfortunately, her coat was treated with a topical insecticide and appears stained in this picture.)
PJM 47. This doe has produced many very good kids. One of her sons was the heaviest goats to every "grow-out" at the Maryland test in 2015. He completed the test with zero treatments for ailments or any deworming during the test. Her dam was also a great producer for me and I have a lot of her relatives in my herd.
DSL 105 in her yearling summer.
DSL Lumber Jacks Girl 105. I purchased this doe from the former President of the AKGA, Duff Sandness. She was a great producer for me. She is the Dam of PJM Copyright Tough who was tested in Maryland and of PJM Copyright Tru Test MD14 - a Maryland Finalist in 2014.
